Video

This page will describe how to embed videos onto your website using the "Video" content type.

To add a video to your website, you'll need to host the video using a 3rd-party site. Supported 3rd-party hosting sites include: CollegeHumor, Flickr, Hulu, Instagram, Kickstarter, MixCloud, SoundCloud, Spotify, Twitter, Vimeo, Vine, Youtube.

Once you have the video uploaded on one of those sites, you can copy the URL or Embed Code, and move over to Base.

Select New > Video in the upper right-hand corner of the page (you may have to scroll down the list of available content types to find Video)

Scroll down until you find the "Details" portion, where you'll see an "Embed" input field.

You can paste the full embed code of the video, or the URL - both will work.

Option 1: Pasting the Embed code

If you have the full embed code of the video, you can paste it directly into that input field.

If embedding from JWPlayer/JWPlatform, make sure to use the iframe embed with the seo flag enabled!

Option 2: Pasting the URL

Alternatively, you can simply copy+paste the URL from the address bar.

Once you've pasted an embed code or URL into Base, you'll see a preview of the thumbnail display in the whitespace:

If you paste an unsupported provider, you'll see an error message in the upper-right

At minimum, you'll be required to fill out Name and Primary Site/Section before being able to save your content. More on that can be found here:

Once your video has been successfully embedded, and the content has been created, you can click the Preview button on the left-hand side of the page. A window will pop out with a preview of your video. Once you're satisfied with the appearance, toggle the to Published and accordingly.
